This is a critical role in preparing written advice to the Minister for Indigenous Australians, including quality assurance reviews of briefs, letters, ministerial advice and the coordination of Minister and Prime Minister visits across the Northern Territory.As an Assistant Director, you'll have the opportunity to work with key senior leaders, engagement and policy teams to create meaningful communication material and actions, forging strong partnerships across all levels of government.You will undertake a variety of work including but not limited to:Coordinating travel and related ministerial correspondence for Minister and Assistant Minister visits across the Northern Territory.Providing leadership, guidance, support and a point of contact for NIAA staff about Ministerial and briefing requirements.Facilitating and leading the development and implementation of improvement projects across the Groups corporate services and administration.Delivering high quality correspondences to key internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Group.Supporting the development of strategic plans, business cases and project plans.Researching, critically analysing and responding to complex and sensitive matters.Providing a strategic level of advice and expertise to the NIAA Executive and senior stakeholders.Our Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will have the following:Experience providing high quality written advice to Minister/s and senior leadership.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships through collaboration with a variety of stakeholders.Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate respectfully and positively with First Nations peoples and communities.Well-developed organisational skills, including the ability to adapt and change to manage competing priorities.Experience gathering information, data and advice to synthesise into clear and concise written advice within short timeframes.Problem solving skills to apply critical thinking to analyse information including data.A high level of cultural competency to guide the implementation of culturally appropriate strategies for working with people from diverse backgrounds.Identified PositionThis position is Identified which signifies that the role has strong involvement in matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.This position has direct engagement with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and service providers, or is involved in the development of programmes and policy.
