In particular, lead and coordinate the Groote Eylandt Futures mining transition and other regional and community development initiatives which support achievement of government policy objectives including Closing the Gap and Local Decision Making.Key duties and responsibilities:Build and sustain collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships with Yol?u and Anindilyakwa leaders and traditional owners, and relevant stakeholders across government agencies, service providers and local businesses.Lead project implementation of the government's role in the mining transition on Groote Eylandt and other regional and community development initiatives, including 'ground-up' priority setting, capacity building and cross-agency collaboration.Coordinate and support joined up NT Government service delivery across agencies to strengthen services and improve socio-economic outcomes.Gather, investigate and analyse information to provide inputs to policy and program development and high-level advice across social, economic and other areas that have an impact on the region.Work with stakeholders to develop innovative strategies and initiatives that address key issues affecting the region.Where necessary, support emergency resilience and recovery activities through Local Emergency or Recovery Committees.Prepare and deliver written briefings, memoranda and verbal presentations on key issues and projects as required.Contribute to management of resources and leadership of people within the East Arnhem office.Selection criteria:Essential:Demonstrated ability to engage with the non-government sector, other government agencies and stakeholders at community, regional and Territory levels, to achieve and maintain effective relationships and ensure collaborative and productive approaches across the business unit's work.Demonstrated high level project management skills including the ability to plan, implement and evaluate projects.Demonstrated understanding of policy and related program implementation, particularly relating to local decision making, regional socio-economic development and community development approaches.Well-developed cross-cultural competency skills together with knowledge of issues affecting people in remote and regional areas, particularly within the East Arnhem region.Demonstrated team leadership and management skills incorporating strong strategic, communication, influencing skills and emotional intelligence.Demonstrated ability to prepare meeting notes, briefings and reports for government, including research and evidence based on analysis and solution brokering.Desirable:Relevant tertiary qualifications.Further information:A current 'C' Class driver's licence or equivalent, or ability to obtain.A working with children (Ochre) card or ability to acquire.This position requires the ability to travel to remote locations via 4WD vehicle or light aircraft for extended periods as required.
