About the role The School of Health Sciences is seeking a forward-thinking, dynamic, and innovative Associate Lecturer or Lecturer in Speech Pathology.
Our School educates tomorrow's graduates in a contemporary, challenging, and adaptive environment, offering interdisciplinary teaching programs across a broad range of clinical and non-clinical health sciences, as well as sport-related disciplines.
With a strong focus on research and research-led teaching, our programs include undergraduate degrees, Honours degrees, coursework Master's programs, and higher degree research programs (Masters and PhD).
In this role, you will teach into our Speech Pathology program and engage with research students and/or research projects within the Speech Pathology program.
You will coordinate and teach subjects within the Speech Pathology program, undertake research, and supervise students.
Collaboration with research and teaching staff within the School of Health Sciences and across the wider University is essential, as is fostering relationships with industry and community partners.
The appointee will be based at the Campbelltown Campus, with potential travel between campuses for multi-campus activities.
About You For appointment at Level A (Associate Lecturer), you will have a Master's degree or equivalent, relevant professional experience in an area relevant to Speech Pathology.
For appointment at Level B (Lecturer), you will have a PhD or equivalent in an area relevant to Speech Pathology or a closely related area (those with a submitted PhD thesis may be considered at Level B).
You will possess a recognised qualification in Speech Pathology and be a member, or eligible for membership, as a Speech Pathologist with Speech Pathology Australia.
You will have demonstrated experience in course/curriculum development relevant to Speech Pathology, with knowledge of contemporary practice trends and their impact on the curriculum.
Additionally, you will have experience in Speech Pathology education across a broad range of topic areas, and in quality and innovative teaching at the tertiary level, including the use of contemporary methods of curriculum design, development, delivery, and assessment (including e-learning methods).
For a Level B appointment, you will have a track record of progressing research initiatives from inception to publication, with evidence of high-quality relevant publications.
You will also have experience, or the potential to move into, the supervision of research students at Honours and higher degree levels.
Experience in writing successful research grant proposals, or a well-formed development plan to do so in the near future, is essential.
You will have demonstrated experience in successful collaboration with industry and community partners, and possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Applicants should be aware that this role will be based at Campbelltown campus, however as Western Sydney University is a multi-campus university travel to other campuses may be required when operational needs arise.
