About the role We are seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of Lecturer in Advanced Manufacturing.
The successful applicant will conduct innovative research and teach across a broad range of areas, including advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0, sustainable manufacturing, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering (both aeronautical and astronautical), computer-aided engineering, and advanced engineering materials.
Proven research experience in one or more of these fields is essential, and evidence of successful grant applications is highly desirable.
We are looking for an outstanding researcher and educator with an emerging track record of impactful research, demonstrated by publications in top journals and peer-reviewed conferences.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to secure research funding and excellence in teaching and learning in higher education.
The role involves collaborating with colleagues within the School and across the University, designing curriculum, teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate coursework and higher degree research students.
The successful candidate will also be expected to foster links with external partners, including industry, government, and community, as the School diversifies its income sources.
The incumbent will be involved in a wide range of teaching activities, including developing and delivering innovative interdisciplinary academic programs related to advanced manufacturing and supervising student projects for national and international competitions.
The appointee will develop and supervise projects addressing grand challenges with high impact, form strategic interdisciplinary teams, and identify and obtain research grants in collaboration with internal and external partners.
About You The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent in Advanced Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Robotics and Automation, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or a closely related field.
They will have demonstrated experience and achievements in areas such as advanced manufacturing, robotics, sustainable manufacturing, mechanical engineering, advanced materials, or computer-aided engineering.
Experience in smart robotics, automation, and autonomous systems is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record and international reputation for excellence in research and development, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in high-profile journals, patents, and/or Open Source developments.
They will have established strong national and international research collaborations and other evidence of world-class international standing.
Additionally, they will have proven leadership in research, fostering a robust research culture, and developing research initiatives, along with experience supervising research students at the Honours or higher degree level.
The candidate will demonstrate the capacity to secure substantial research funding from various sources, including competitive government grants and income from public and private sector agencies and industry.
They will also have evidence of curriculum development and program delivery in Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with the ability to teach across a wide spectrum of related programs.
Furthermore, the successful candidate will have a proven record of successful interaction with industry or other external partners in research projects, with industry experience in a related field being highly regarded.
