Our Cyber Security Assurance and Operations (CSAO) team is dedicated to maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our ICT systems, supporting the University's mission to enable positive academic, research, and business outcomes.
Based at our Parramatta or Hawkesbury campuses, with remote work options considered, CSAO is integral to our Information Technology and Digital Services unit, managing cyber security risks and incident responses to ensure a secure digital environment.

The Opportunity
As the Director, Cyber Security Operations, you will lead and manage the University's cyber security functions to safeguard our digital assets and information systems.
You will identify and prioritise security threats, manage responses, and lead a team of dedicated cyber security experts who support the diverse academic and business needs of the University.

This role is pivotal in driving CSAO's growth, enabling evidence-based and intelligence-informed decision-making, and supporting the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in providing strategic cyber security guidance.
Working closely with the CISO, you will develop and execute a robust cyber security strategy aligned with the University's risk management framework.

About You
We're seeking a seasoned cyber security professional with substantial experience and expertise in a large-scale environment.
Your qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline, combined with strong skills in offensive security tools, scripting, and knowledge of security engineering, position you to lead our cyber security operations.
You will have demonstrated decision-making capabilities, people leadership experience, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
With your expertise in cyber threat analysis and security operations, you will contribute to the safety and resilience of Western Sydney University's digital infrastructure.
