The Opportunity The School of Humanities & Communication Arts are seeking a highly skilled and motivated School Manager to join the team. As the most senior professional member of the School, you will provide strategic planning and operational oversight, supporting the Dean and School Executive in teaching, learning, research, international, and engagement activities. Your role will be crucial in driving the development and implementation of effective business practices and services that align with the School's strategic and operational objectives.
The School Manager will be responsible for continuous improvement in managing financial, physical, information, and human resources across multiple campuses. You will play a major role in negotiating and advocating for seamless service delivery from divisional areas of the University, ensuring that the School's operational and strategic goals are met. Additionally, you will provide strategic and operational advice to senior and executive members of the School, lead projects and implement systems to enhance business services, and develop and manage School budgets to ensure proactive resourcing and financial efficiency. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with divisional staff, academics, and external stakeholders is crucial, as is promoting the School's teaching and research profile locally, nationally, and internationally. You will also contribute to lifting the profile and performance of the School by developing and implementing strategies that enhance relationships between the University, the School, and the community. Furthermore, you will lead and manage professional staff, fostering a culture of customer service and high standards, and contribute to the continuous improvement of business practices and services that support the School's strategic and operational objectives.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 31 December 2025 based at Parramatta South Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required. Please review the position description for further information.
About You You are a highly qualified professional with an undergraduate degree and substantial progress towards a postgraduate qualification, or you have extensive experience in a large and complex organisation. Your proven business acumen, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enables you to excel in detailed financial planning, business process review, and financial modelling. You have a strong track record in developing, implementing, and reviewing strategic and operational plans, policies, and procedures, always with a keen eye for continuous improvement. Your extensive experience in stakeholder management and leadership allows you to engage, influence, negotiate, and build productive relationships both internally and externally. You are adept at managing human, financial, and infrastructure resources, with a history of successful team leadership and people management strategies. Additionally, you have a demonstrated ability to facilitate change and navigate the complexities of tertiary education settings in contemporary contexts.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 9 $155,690 to $166,265 p.a. (comprising Salary of $131,560 to $140,496 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
