The division provides stewardship, support, and services across integrity; conduct; property; fraud and corruption; security; performance management; rehabilitation management; recruitment; learning and development; inclusion and diversity; workforce planning and analytics; workplace relations; people support; culture and health, safety, and wellbeing.The People and Policy Branch are the front line of human resources (HR) for the department. We deliver timely and accurate responses to various client groups and support our people across the country with a strong focus on customer service and building trusting relationships with employees and business areas. We offer general and specialist HR advice and case management services for issues related to workplace relations, performance, probation, recruitment, attendance, behaviour, and workplace rehabilitation.The Recruitment Services section represents a core function of the department and drives the successful filling of critical roles, with the best candidate, at the right time, for the right cost. We have an exciting opportunity for high-performing HR professionals to join our motivated, supportive, and professional team to support our people and critical workforce needs of the department now and into the future.You will work within the Operational Recruitment Team to manage the department's end-to-end recruitment activities, support the hiring area to apply attraction strategies and provide best practice advice on recruitment legislation and policy. You will make an impact on achieving effective and efficient recruitment outcome for the department by delivering and supporting frontline and contemporary recruitment practices.The JobAs an APS 4 Recruitment Officer your duties will include:• Developing and managing effective relationships with a range of stakeholders via the recruitment inbox, hotline, and other communication methods.• Processing internal advertising, non-ongoing and labour hire recruitment activities which includes a file transfer process from our recruitment system (eRecruit) to HRMIS.• Supporting a positive team environment and contributing to team outcomes as well as providing guidance and support to other team members.• Assisting with the onboarding process for new employees and ensuring that they, and the hiring manager, have a positive recruitment experience.• Acting as the first point of contact for recruitment related enquiries, providing accurate and timely advice on labour hire, non-ongoing and other internal recruitment processes as required.• Reviewing, assessing, and coordinating requests to access both internal and external merit pools.• Contributing to the implementation and ongoing improvement of recruitment policies, systems, and processes to enhance service delivery.• Undertaking procedural, clerical, administrative support, and operational tasks including assisting with the recruitment mailbox and hotline.• Contributing to the effective operation of the team, branch, and divisional priorities.Please note that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill the vacancy in the section and that the role may be performed from any of the locations listed above. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.Skills and Capabilities• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.• Strong customer service skills.• Sound written and oral communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles as appropriate.• Demonstrated time management skills, including planning, prioritising tasks, and meeting deadlines.Knowledge and experienceKnowledge of recruitment related legislation, policies, procedures and practices or the ability to quickly acquire such knowledge.EligibilityCitizenship - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry you must be an Australian citizen.Security Clearance - This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.Pre-employment Check - Your suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment medical assessment, specified mandatory qualification(s) validation and a probation period of 6 months.MSIC and ASIC Licences – If the position requires unescorted access within an aviation or maritime security zone, you will be required to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) or Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).For additional information, please read the Job Description below.
