About the opportunity This is a great opportunity if you are wanting to start or progress your career in HR working for a volunteer-based organisation that supports our communities of NSW in preparing and responding to emergencies.
Join the Recruitment and Workforce Strategy Team in a hybrid role that may work across both our Recruitment team who is responsible for paid staff recruitment and talent strategy, and the NSW SES and the Membership Team, who is responsible for the onboarding/offboarding and life cycle of paid staff, together with the onboarding of volunteers. This role will report into either a Recruitment Advisor or Coordinator Member Services.
The Recruitment and Membership Support Officer will be instrumental in providing essential administrative support to the team. By managing various HR processes, the successful candidate will contribute to the efficient delivery of business services, including recruitment, data management, and compliance with relevant regulations.
We are seeking to create a Talent Pool which will be valid for 18 months. This pool maybe activated to fill any future vacancies that arise in our Recruitment & Workforce Strategy Team.

The NSW SES serves the NSW community as the lead agency for floods, storms, and tsunamis as specified by the State Emergency Service Act We are recognised as the most versatile and widely used emergency service organisation in NSW. Our volunteers are highly skilled, experienced, and well- trained in the wide variety of roles they perform.
Each NSW SES Unit is as unique and varied as the community it serves, reflecting the vast mix of risks faced and roles required in the diverse locations and communities across the state. In addition to flood, storm and tsunami, our Service provides specialist capabilities that include general land rescue, vertical rescue, road crash rescue, and alpine and remote area search and rescue. The NSW SES responded to over 64,000 requests for assistance from the community over the year.
The NSW SES has over 10,000 volunteer members, including reserves, and a full-time equivalent workforce of over 370. There are 262 volunteer Units across the State and our volunteer Units are either local, community-based Units, State-wide or regional Units established to provide specialist capabilities. They are varied and unique in their capabilities, designed to address specific risks to communities of NSW.
About You · You will use your strong organisational skills to manage diverse tasks such as posting job advertisements, sending interview invitations, managing new starter packs, conducting pre-employment checks, onboarding and offboarding of paid staff and more.
· Working with stakeholders across the agency you will apply your excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to provide transactional support and advice;
· You will support the team in the development and maintenance of recruitment, membership, and establishment procedures, resources, and guides.
· Drawing on your attention to detail, you will ensure accuracy and data integrity by maintaining records, creating roles and maintaining the staff establishment, processing increment and probation transactions, and entering people data into a HRIS system.
· Utilise your excellent customer service experience by providing a customer focused service, that is people-oriented to achieve positive solutions and outcomes.
With your experience using technology in the workplace, you will use a human resource and information system to process recruitments, people transactions (using SAP) and maintaining records of PFiles, recruitment actions and establishment changes.
