Recreational Activities Officer - Dementia Specific Skip to content Retirement Village and Aged Care Facility in the heart of Western Sydney. We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated person to join our team. As a member of the Leisure and Lifestyle team, your role is to promote a culturally sensitive and appropriate range of Recreational, Community, Cultural and Spiritual activities for residents, enabling them to function as a community, expand their skills, enjoy a healthy lifestyle, and celebrate their lifetime experiences. Ensuring the delivery of a range of high standard activities in accordance with the adopted philosophy of care, Vision, Mission, and Values of the organisation. Implementing and evaluating programs and activities to stimulate healthy living, communication, and personal fulfilment for those wishing to participate. Promoting safety, healthy eating, exercise, and interaction with the broader community. Liaising with residents, families, and carers in relation to resident preferences. Developing and maintaining a harmonious, safe, organised, and effective recreation and activities environment for residents, their visitors, and staff. Displaying tolerance and patience with aged persons and demonstrating empathy with their needs and aspirations, encouraging involvement in the community – while respecting a resident's right not to participate. Be the Dementia Champion - promoting individualised care and support to residents living with dementia, including assistance with emotional support. Implementing a high standard of activities and programs to suit the needs and aspirations of residents. Documenting the Social History and Family/Carer involvement in the progress notes as an integral part of the overall ongoing care plan review process for residents. Working with individuals, their carers, and health professionals in the delivery of personalised recreational and culturally sensitive activities and interest programs. Providing residents with the opportunity to enhance independence, choice, decision-making, and re-enablement. Ensuring Care Recipient care is delivered in accordance with current infection control guidelines as outlined by the NSW Department of Health. Ensuring compliance with infection control policies and procedures, including practicing proper hand hygiene, correctly using personal protective equipment, and promptly monitoring and reporting any signs of infection in residents.
