Recreation Development Officer

Are you passionate about fostering community engagement through sport and recreation? Do you have a knack for strategic planning, facility management, and collaborating with stakeholders? Searson Buck is seeking a dedicated Sport and Recreation Development Officer to join our client's team and enhance the delivery of sport and recreational services in our community.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee and Enhance Sport & Recreation Delivery: Lead initiatives that improve access and quality of recreational activities in the municipal area. Community Engagement and Support: Work closely with clubs and organizations to boost community participation and ensure they have the tools to succeed, including training programs and strategic planning support. Develop Promotional Strategies: Implement marketing strategies to increase participation and raise awareness of sports and recreation activities. Plan Review & Implementation: Regularly review and update the sport and recreation plan, ensuring alignment with community needs. Facility Audits and Maintenance Planning: Conduct audits of community facilities, explore shared usage options, and collaborate with teams to implement maintenance strategies. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work in partnership with Sport & Recreation Tasmania, state and federal governments, and council departments to coordinate projects that align with the council's Strategic Plan. Operational Oversight: Manage the lease of Caravan Park and the Swimming Complex, and oversee parks and reserves for community use. Administrative Duties: Support internal and external committees with secretarial tasks, assist with technical operations, and handle after-hours call-outs as needed. Qualifications & Skills: Relevant qualifications in Sport Management, Recreation, Community Development, or a related field. Strong project management and organisational skills. Proven ability to secure funding and manage budgets effectively. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Knowledge of risk management and employment safety practices.
