We are seeking internal expressions of interest for the role of RAP Sub-Committee Secretariat (0.2 FTE) until 31 December 2025, with potential for extension. This position may suit a current student or part-time staff member interested in dedicating one day per week to this role. Compensation is at Professional Level 4: $76,276 - $80,951 per annum (pro-rata).
Role Overview The RAP Sub-Committee Secretariat will support the RAP Committee in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of RAP committee's initiatives. This role aims to support fostering a workplace that prioritises safety, celebrates diversity, and empowers all staff to thrive. The RAP Committee reports to the GEDI Committee.
The role is accountable to the Deputy Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and the Diversity and Inclusion Manager (DEI team). The RAP Sub-Committee Secretariat will work closely with the RAP Committee Chair and the Director of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Initiative.
Key Responsibilities Administrative Support: Work with the RAP Committee Chair to support working groups by coordinating meetings, recording minutes, managing RAP-related communications, organising digital files, and preparing agendas in collaboration with the Chair and assisting the RAP Chair with reporting to GEDI.Monitoring and Evaluation: Assist the DEI team in tracking and reporting RAP progress and fulfilling reporting requirements.Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Assist to promote cross-institute collaboration to support stakeholders in effectively developing and implementing RAP action items. Although the RAP Committee does not have decision-making authority, it can communicate stakeholders' needs to the Deputy Director or, if resources allow, engage volunteer members to provide support. The Secretariat will also ensure that Burnet's strong partnerships with organisations such as VACCHO and the Bunurong Land Council continue to thrive and ensure these established relationships are maintained and progress toward shared reconciliation goals.RAP Implementation: Work closely with the RAP Chair, Deputy Director, and DEI team to support the implementation of RAP actions, contributing to sustainable reconciliation practices across the Institute.The RAP Sub-Committee Secretariat is encouraged to actively participate in RAP events and initiatives beyond their core responsibilities, further embedding reconciliation values within Burnet. There will be a number of out-of-session decisions and meetings required, especially pending action plan development and implementation and its deadlines.
