Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital You will be responsible for providing a welcoming, efficient and high professional standard of customer service to all customers and caregivers via reception and switchboard.
The Position Respond in a fast efficient manner to all emergency calls via switchboard and implement required procedures. Where required, monitor alarm panels and security surveillance and implement required escalation procedures as applicable. Initiate emergency code calls as per Hospital policy and procedures. Provide an efficient paging service to all pager holders using internal or external pagers. Ensure all callers are connected to the correct extensions with minimum delay in a pleasant and courteous manner. Make outgoing calls as required for caregivers and patients. Escalate and report all information system and switchboard faults in accordance with Hospital and Group IS policies. Deal with all inquiries at the hospital reception areas in a welcoming, calm and professional manner, demonstrating excellent customer service and values in line with our service ethos. Deal with and escalate emergency situations according to hospital policy and procedures. Print inpatient lists as required. Advise relevant Manager/Supervisor of telephone number and other information changes or updates, and communicate critical information to relevant stakeholders as required and in accordance with Hospital policy. Ensure all patient information is correct and current relating to discharges, transfers and admissions.
If information is not correct, advise Ward, Admissions or Health Information to ensure updates are facilitated. Work cohesively with Medical Administration to update and communicate changes regarding emergency and on-call rosters as well as other relevant changes regarding medical personnel and contact methods. Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date knowledge base via memos, reports, noticeboard and Communications book and other information sources. You will have demonstrated customer service experience including evidence of ability to handle challenging situations, excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a broad range of customers.
Sound knowledge of MS Office and demonstrated ability to learn a range of software applications is essential.
To succeed you will maintain an appropriate professional image in the workplace, ability to prioritise, multitask and be resourceful as well as the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to the requirements of a shift roster.
