Where the team fits in
The Group Financial Reporting Accountant sits within the Finance & Business Services Group, headed up by the CFO. The Finance and Business Services team, or FaBS as we like to call them, is the engine room of the REA Group. The team is comprised of Finance, Risk, Procurement, Pricing, Corporate Developer, Corporate Affairs, Contracts, Customer Collections, Payments and Facilities Management.
The financial reporting team is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of the financials for each of the businesses within the REA Group. The team's purpose is to provide reliable, relevant and efficient reporting in accordance with IFRS standards as well as consideration of US GAAP implications. The teams are accountable for, and assist in, the management of financial, tax and compliance reporting obligations as well as supporting the growth of the business by advising on strategic initiatives.
What the role is all about
The Group Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of REA Group's consolidated accounts and the financial reporting requirements for News Ltd and management reporting where required. The Group Financial Reporting Accountant also provides support and guidance to the finance teams across the Group focusing on group reporting, assisting with technical accounting matters, process improvement and efficiencies.
Prepare and analyse monthly and quarterly reporting to major shareholder, News Limited (News). A key contact for News NY consolidations team for monthly and quarterly reporting. Responsible for maintaining REA financials in OneStream consolidation system, including preparing journal entries to adjust for US GAAP differences. Ensuring compliance in accordance with IFRS, US GAAP and accounting standards, ASX listing rules and Corporations Law. Review related balance sheet reconciliations on a regular basis for any issues and compliance with Group policies. Accounting for REA's offshore subsidiaries in conjunction with outsourced business partner (monthly basis). Accounting for REA's equity investments on a monthly basis. Assist with external and internal audit requirements. Ensuring Sarbanes Oxley controls for US reporting regulations are operating effectively and always met without exception. Identify process improvements/efficiencies for finance teams reporting to the Group. Strong project management skills to efficiently ensure monthly reporting requirements (both internal and external) are well planned and executed. Adopt a whole business perspective when solving issues. Promote REA values and encourage teamwork through stakeholder collaboration. Work collaboratively within the team to share and obtain knowledge. Ensure team members are compliant with company policies/procedures and adhere to the REA values. Who we're looking for
Tertiary qualifications or equivalent
2-3 years of experience
CA or CPA qualified (or in process of obtaining)
Experience in the production of financial statements for ASX listed companies either via big 4 accounting firm or industry
AIFRS technical accounting knowledge
Ideally has experience with:
Knowledge of US GAAP and AIFRS accounting and disclosure differences
Complex entity structures, foreign currency and consolidations
Assessment and testing of Sarbanes Oxley attestation requirements
NetSuite, OneStream, Adaptive and Blackline financial systems.
