Re-Advertised - Specialist Aftercare CaseworkerAre you passionate about helping young people reach milestones in their lives and support care leavers aged 18 to 24 to achieve a successful transition to adulthood?Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation provides foster care to Aboriginal children & young people of the Macleay, Nambucca, Hastings, Manning, Armidale and Tamworth Regions. It is one of the largest and most successful Aboriginal agencies in NSW.We are now recruiting for a Specialist Aftercare Caseworker to join our multidisciplinary team and work within a supportive community focused organisation in collaboration with Uniting NSW/QLD.This opportunity would suit someone with previous experience as a Casework Manager or Senior Caseworker wishing to further their career and is looking for a full-time role in Tamworth NSW.SELECTION CRITERIAAboriginalityRelevant tertiary qualification in the social sciences and/or demonstrated relevant work experience with young people, or equivalent and relevant to the field of work.Demonstrated knowledge or willingness to gain knowledge of the Advantage Thinking practice model, inclusive casework strategies, motivational interviewing, solution focused questioning and trauma informed care.Demonstrated understanding of the complex needs and challenges impacting young people leaving care and their families, particularly in regional and Aboriginal communities.Ability to develop person-centered case plans built around their goals and have conversations with young people about their achievements, outcomes, improvements, and further support needs.Demonstrated commitment to creating and maintaining an environment where the voice of the young person is heard and valued and their aspirations, choices, preferences, and values are always on the forefront.Expertise in providing functional and holistic assessments and planning processes, identify indicators of crisis early and provide effective responses to keep young people safe.Ability to document and report incidents appropriately, develop effective risk and incident management plans and safety plans with young people including understanding of Child Safe Reporting and Obligations.Demonstrated ability to build and maintain genuine, honest and productive relationships with young people with complex and challenging needs and their families.Demonstrated ability to advocate and collaborate with care leavers with a wide range of government and non-government agencies to provide wrap-around support.Ability to work independently, self-directed and in a flexible manner, but also cooperatively in a wider team.Ability to manage time effectively, write thorough case notes, be accurate with recording data and follow through on key performance indicators.Computer literacy including a sound level of competency with Microsoft Office platforms and client management systems.Diploma of Child, Youth & Family Intervention, or willingness to obtain.Previous experience working in an Aboriginal Corporation.Note: Applications Submitted via Seek will not be considered.Applications must be emailed directly to ****** obtain further information, please email ****** apply: Submit a copy of your current CV, covering letter and answer the selection criteria to ****** close: 5th December 2024, unless filled, as we reserve the right to commence the recruitment process prior to the closing date.Applicants must be willing to provide a current Working with Children Application Number (Worker) for verification and undertake a National Criminal Record Check prior to commencement.This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People; all applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
