The Rates & Property Officer assists in the efficient and effective delivery of Council's rates and property functions while ensuring compliance with the rating provisions of the Local Government Act 2020. The position is responsible for maintaining Council's property database to ensure high quality data integrity is achieved.
This role will provide you the opportunity to:
Maintain Council's property and rates system in order to ensure the accurate and timely levying of Council rates and charges and State Government charges and levies collected by Council which includes:Process Land Information Certificates Update Synergy with daily electronic payments Process rates quarterly and monthly direct debit files Process Centrepay Applications and Daily payments Investigate and resolve ratepayer enquiries and complaints relating to Council rates and State Government charges and levies collected by Council. Maintain rates procedure manual under the direction of the Coordinator Rates and Property. Assist in timely collection of overdue rates and charges and collaborate with Council's debt collection agency.
Our ideal candidate will have:
A proven commitment to providing excellent customer service and a "can do" attitude in a busy office and service environment. Demonstrated ability to undertake duties with an emphasis on attention to detail to ensure accurate data is maintained in Council's property database. Ability to prioritise and manage workloads to meet required deadlines. Proven ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and to build and maintain effective working relationships. Well-developed verbal and written skills and the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of internal and external customers. Understanding of property transactions, subdivision, and building permit processes Demonstrated skills in processing property and rates system transactions such as land information certificates, daily payments, rate refunds, notices of acquisitions and dispositions, adjustments and write-offs, supplementary valuations, and pension concessions
