RANGER About Us

Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for a Ranger to join our highly skilled Ranger Services team to support the delivery of regulatory compliance and continue to make a meaningful impact on our community.
About the Role
This is a permanent, full-time position. This is a diverse role responsible for investigating, assessing, and managing a range of different enforcement activities, including but not limited to animal/stock control, litter, illegal dumping, abandoned vehicles and articles, parking regulation, and patrols of public lands. You will enforce the compliance of applicable Acts, Regulations, and Council policies, and ensure you keep abreast of any changes in laws/policies. You will also manage correspondence from citizens, including complaints and enquiries, and effectively resolve issues using negotiation skills and stakeholder consultation.
As one of our Rangers, you will maintain and operate Council's animal seizure equipment, undertake animal control patrols and seizures to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and the safety of the community. As a result of these seizures, you may need to prepare investigative reports and documentation in support of legal action and/or prosecutions, or present evidence on Council's behalf to the relevant Court/s.
About You
With a Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services), or relevant training, you will have worked previously in a law enforcement or regulatory role, and will have experience handling animals and livestock, and impounding vehicles. You will also have experience interpreting and applying Acts, Regulations, and Policies, preferably within a Local Government environment.
Your written and verbal communication skills, especially the ability to negotiate, problem solve, resolve conflict, and prepare and present reports, will see you succeed in the role. You must have a current driver's licence and be flexible in the hours that you can work, as the roster is on a 7-day rotating basis, with additional on-call duties.
Benefits
This is a permanent full-time role, working 38 hours per week, on a rotating 7-day roster with a base salary range of $75,227 up to $83,502 per year based on demonstrated skills and experience + 11.5% p.a. super + commuter use vehicle.
