Ranger Grade 1-2 Package $81,057 - $125,199 + super + leave loading Three full-time ongoing roles Located in Bourke The successful candidates may be eligible for additional financial support on top of their salary package. Successful candidates may be eligible for up to an additional 10 days of leave per annum. Accrued days off in addition to annual leave. A remote area allowance may be available to successful candidates starting at $3,680 p.a. and can be more depending on individual circumstances. About the roles NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is inviting adventurous and passionate Rangers to join our collaborative and supportive team working in this vibrant Outback community. Our Bourke Area staff are passionate about the spectacular reserves they manage. Our visitors come from all walks of life, and so do we! Whilst based in Bourke, each of the three roles will work in differing reserves and Parks in the region: Culgoa and Gundabooka National Parks, Ledknapper and Nocoleche Nature Reserves and our newest land acquisitions Thurloo Downs Station, Cuttaburra and Brindingabba National Parks. You'll love the diversity, flexibility, and autonomy of these roles and enjoy the variety of travel and making a difference in the management of our natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage.
Our Rangers are responsible for undertaking, coordinating and supervising projects, environmental assessments, visitor and stakeholder liaison, and field-based activities including burn planning/wildfire management and law enforcement. Your strong communication skills will assist you in tackling evolving reserve management priorities. Outdoor duties such as pest, weed and fire management, consulting and coordination will balance indoor work like project management and providing administrative support to the Board of Management for Jointly Managed reserves in the region. You'll form invaluable professional relationships with Traditional Owners, various commonwealth and state agencies and stakeholders.

About you Your skills and knowledge of natural land management strategies will help build your success in this role. You have a genuine interest in teamwork, collaboration and supporting the growth of others. Your fitness and enthusiasm will enable you to thrive and succeed in this diverse, fast-paced role. It is an essential requirement you have completed a degree in a relevant field of study such as protected area management and you are required to provide a copy of your degree qualifications. Essential requirements A degree or equivalent relevant to the field operations of the Agency. Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent and ability to operate four-wheel-drive vehicles. Required to obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties. Willingness to fly in light aircraft and preparedness and ability to be involved in incident management duties including firefighting. This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit, enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, and are eager to learn and develop the skills and qualifications needed to contribute toward improving and maintaining some of NSW's most precious natural places.

Applicants must meet the requirements of a specific medical assessment which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake the fitness test for firefighting fitness roles (i.e. moderate level Task-Based Assessment for Firefighters) within the 12-month probationary period, if relevant.

The role holder must obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
