Ranger, Environment, Science and InnovationEnvironment, Science and Innovation – Gladstone QLDJoin our team as a Vessel Master based in Gladstone!We're seeking an experienced Vessel Master to operate the 24m patrol vessel "Reef Resilience" and our short/mid-range patrol vessels.
This role involves managing marine, island, and coastal protected areas, implementing annual work programs, and conducting compliance and enforcement activities with State and Commonwealth agencies.
Additionally, you'll promote conservation awareness and mentor crew on safe vessel operations.
Physical fitness is essential for this demanding fieldwork.
You'll have the opportunity to participate in extended patrols, up to 15 days at a time.
Be part of a dedicated team making a difference in the Great Barrier Reef region!Role focus:Operate and maintain departmental vessels, including the 24m patrol vessel "Reef Resilience," for marine and coastal management.Conduct extended patrols for up to 15 days at a time, totaling around 130 days at sea annually.Promote conservation awareness and educate park users on environmental management and conservation values.Carry out compliance and enforcement activities in collaboration with State and Commonwealth Agencies, focusing on marine zoning and wildlife protection.Mentor and train crew on safe operations of marine assets, including vessels and equipment, ensuring adherence to best practices in high-risk situations.To be considered you must hold the following qualifications:AMSA Master less than 24mNC (Master Class V) Certificate of CompetencyMarine Engine Driver Grade 2 NC (MED2) Certificate of CompetencyUnrestricted manual driver's licenceApplications to remain current for 12 months.#J-18808-Ljbffr
