Attention all adventure seekers and future land management professionals! Are you looking for a tree change with a difference and wanting to learn new skills and experience new things? We are currently seeking a Ranger to take on a contract role with a Local Government department in Toowoomba.
This is a full-time contract position running until January 2025, with the possibility of extension. The working hours are Monday to Friday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Ranger – Bushland Parks position will be responsible for carrying out all maintenance tasks, natural resource management, recreation management, and visitor management (including campgrounds) related to the day-to-day operations of Council's bushland park estate. The Ranger may also be called upon to assist in other operational areas as needed.
Duties And Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:Utilise trade or equivalent skills to carry out approved maintenance and management programs for bushland parks.Conduct bushland park management and maintenance tasks across geographically dispersed natural areas, including infrastructure upkeep, visitor management, fire management, pest control, and compliance monitoring, as directed.Operate and maintain a variety of motorized and non-motorized tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order and used in accordance with operator manuals, Council procedures, and best practices.Use necessary plant, tools, equipment, chemicals, and personal protective equipment to achieve required outcomes.Perform job accountability tasks, including maintaining spray records, time sheets, diary entries, and contributing to group reporting.Handle inquiries from residents, ratepayers, and the public in a timely, courteous, and helpful manner.Maintain effective and open communication within the team, section, and branch.Collaborate cooperatively with other members of the Conservation and Pest Management team, as well as internal and external workgroups.Maintain a safe workplace and operate equipment safely to ensure the safety of colleagues and the public, in accordance with workplace health and safety guidelines.Qualifications, Training, and Experience:Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management or relevant experience.Current 'C' Class or 'MR' Class Driver's Licence (preferred).Construction White Card.ACDC Commercial Operators Licence (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).Chainsaw competency certification (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).Bushfire Fighter – Crew Member Accreditation (or willingness to obtain within 12 months)."HR" Class licence (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).Restricted Coxswains Ticket (or willingness to obtain within 12 months).If you are ready to make a tree change and gain new skills and experience, send your resume to or contact Shauna on 4639 4410.
