Randstad are proud to partner with the leading provider of construction and strategic building maintenance services for the Queensland Government. There is an immediate need for an OO7 Estimator located in either the Ipswich or Cannon Hill office, with an initial 3 month contract.
Responsibilities: The responsibility of the Estimator is primarily to participate in tender processes for subcontractors, provide accurate and timely cost estimates and procurement of subcontractors, utilising estimating computer packages to ensure consistency and best practice in the provision of client quotations.
The successful candidate will:
Exhibit working knowledge of trade package subcontract procurement, including all aspects of trade packaging of subcontracted work, procurement through external sub-contractors including development of tender documentation and contractual documents. Display high level of experience in construction estimation, including development of cost breakdown for internal trade staff and be able to work within project deadlines. Demonstrate the ability to utilise estimating databases such as Build Soft, to compile accurate project costings. Maintain a healthy and safe work environment, ensuring compliance across all activities. Possess working ability to interpret supplied construction documentation and complete estimates (labour and material breakdown) for Field Staff trade works including carpentry, electrical, hydraulic and painting works. Produce high quality tender and quotation for Correctional Centre minor works projects including tender documentation, ensuring compliance with industry best practice, departmental standards and client requirements. Proven history of working effectively with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to maximise service delivery, achieve business costs savings and satisfy client requirements. Requirements: Current Open Class C Driver's Licence (Queensland) or equivalent. Knowledge and experience in Estimating. Trade knowledge/background. High level of experience with computer based estimating packages. Able to pass a Criminal History check if required. It is expected that the successful candidate will possess strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. They will display initiative, attention to detail, and have the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised whilst contributing to the wider team's objectives of ensuring service delivery exceeds expectations.
