Your Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Asset Accountant to manage and maintain accurate financial records related to the department's asset portfolio. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with asset management policies and contributing to the financial sustainability of the organisation.
Your Contribution (Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities) Oversee the asset register, ensuring accurate and timely recording of acquisitions, disposals, revaluations, and depreciation. Conduct regular reconciliations between the general ledger and the asset register. Ensure the capitalisation of assets complies with financial policies, legislation, and departmental guidelines. Assist in the preparation of financial reports and disclosures related to assets for internal and external stakeholders. Perform asset audits and physical verifications to ensure data integrity and compliance. Provide guidance and advice to stakeholders regarding asset management policies and financial standards. Support the development and implementation of improved asset management practices, systems, and reporting methods. Collaborate with project teams to ensure appropriate financial treatment of capital projects. The Ideal Candidate (Key Capabilities)
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following capabilities, aligned with the key responsibilities:
Technical Proficiency: Strong experience in asset accounting and financial reporting, including proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in maintaining and reconciling asset records and financial reports. Analytical Skills: Ability to assess and interpret financial data related to assets, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and policies. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide advice, training, and support to stakeholders. Knowledge of Legislation: In-depth understanding of government financial legislation, accounting standards, and asset management policies. Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively within a team and liaise with various internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CA qualification highly regarded). Why Apply?
