Fortescue Metals Group are currently seeking motivated personnel to join our team as a Rail Scheduling Specialist, to be based in Port Hedland on a FIFO or residential basis. Reporting to the Rail Operations Superintendent, The Rail Scheduling Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network across Port, Kanyirri, Thomas, and Rail Service Yards.
Key Responsibilities Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the rail network, covering the Port, Kanyirri, Thomas, and Rail Service Yards, with an emphasis on smooth coordination and communication. Provide real-time technical support and guidance to field operations teams, facilitating timely and informed decision-making for on-the-ground teams. Utilise agile decision-making and contingency planning to schedule crews for both operational and maintenance activities. Adapt to dynamic conditions by addressing breakdowns and planned shunts in a prompt and effective manner. Manage weekly crew rostering using specialised rostering tools to ensure operational requirements are met efficiently and safely. Conduct checks and manage adjustments to flights and accommodations, ensuring all crew members are well-prepared and positioned for their duties. Qualifications and Experience Experience in rail operations, scheduling, or a similar industry. Strong decision-making skills with a focus on safety and efficiency. Proficiency in rostering tools and experience with crew logistics. Ability to respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns and scheduling changes.
