About The Role
Join our dynamic team at Select Plant Australia! Due to continued growth, we are currently recruiting for a passionate Heavy Diesel Fitter/Mechanic, experienced in the Rail industry.
This role will be based out of our modern Select Plant Australia – Laverton North Depot on a permanent, full-time basis, under the support of our collaborative and inclusive workshop and onsite teams.
If successful, you will be tasked with the maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a diverse range of rail infrastructure and machinery. Using your extensive technical skills, commitment to quality control and safe work practices, you will be supported in executing duties which include (but are not limited to):
Key Responsibilities

Perform skilled diagnostics, testing, maintenance, major and minor repairs across a wide range of rail infrastructure equipment, including vehicles, plant, equipment, and other machinery.
Utilise and maintain small items of plant, equipment, tools (hand and power).
Contribute to the scheduling and maintenance of equipment within service interval schedules – as per internal processes and OEM Guidelines.
Attend onsite maintenance and breakdown as required, working efficiently to resolve.
Adhere to all internal and external client's site entry requirements and rules.
Willingness to travel to support remote projects as required.
Obtain parts and consumables from the store manager and complete all paperwork as necessary.
Undertake required administrative responsibilities including completion of standard workplace documentation (e.g. timesheets, standard forms, site safety documentation etc) within the required timeframes and to the required standard.
Ensuring environmental compliance with waste products, cleaning etc.

About You
To be considered for the role, you will need to meet the essential requirements below:
Essential:

Rail Industry Worker (RIW card) -MTM & ARTC
Minimum 4+ years' experience as a Heavy Diesel Plant Mechanic
Demonstrated experience working on rail machinery and infrastructure.
Construction Induction Card (Blue/White Card).
Australian Driver's Licence - Manual C Class minimum
Valid High Risk Work Licence: LF (Forklift)
Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Diesel mechanics (or equivalent)
Unrestricted Australian Working Rights
Valid First Aid certificate
Well-rounded diagnostics skills across hydraulics, electrical and mechanical systems.
Results-driven, positive attitude and the willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Highly Desirable:

Demonstrated experience with Jackson Kershaw machinery.
TMO – Track Machine Operator
Additional mechanical or rail certifications

All candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment medical screening and a national criminal background check.
