Racing Victoria (RV) is one of Australia's leading sporting organisations, and the independent governing body of thoroughbred racing in Victoria. At the heart of what we do is the promotion of the Victorian thoroughbred racing industry (VTRI) and participation in the many different aspects of the industry to a broad audience.
Included in our remit is the Jumps Racing industry and the sustainability of it. This includes participant engagement and continual refinement and improvement in their standards.
In line with this commitment, we are currently recruiting for a passionate Jumps Jockey Coach to engage with our jumps jockeys to deliver high quality coaching and mentoring with an ultimate focus on delivering improved riding standards. Further, you will be accountable for providing proactive recommendations and advice that serve to improve the industry.
Please note, the successful candidate will be engaged on a casual basis.
Key Accountabilities Provide coaching and support to jumps jockeys by attending Jumps Race Meetings, Official Jumps Trials and Jumps Schooling days with activities including track walks with jockeys, Steward's briefings and riding advice. Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to jockeys through race and trial reviews and performance analysis and feedback. Contribute to the improvement in jumps race riding through technical advice, performance analysis, coaching, instruction and assessment. Ensure jumps jockeys receive training in modern techniques in regard to jumps riding. Identify industry trends and build skill capability to address gaps and areas of concern. Report on jumps races, trials, schooling days, critical incidents and any other subject matter as required. About You You possess extensive jumps race riding experience, preferably with knowledge of the Victorian jumps racing circuit. You are passionate about the Jumps racing industry and possess engaging communication and interpersonal skills that can unlock talent and develop skill across a diverse cohort of participants.
Given the diverse spread of jumps racing across Victoria, you must be prepared to undertake regional travel involving overnight stays and weekend work and or flexible hours.
