Quinquennial Visiting Medical Officer (up to 2 positions) Department of Anaesthetics Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position(s) in the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). This position will be located at Auburn Hospital within the Department of Anaesthesia.
Successful applicants will be expected to provide a full range of anaesthetic and acute pain services for a variety of surgical procedures including obstetrics and some paediatrics e.g. ENT procedures.
Applicants expecting to be awarded fellowship within 6 months are eligible to apply.
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997 and Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2014.
Selection Criteria Please outline how you satisfy the selection criteria listed below. In addressing the selection criteria, include any relevant skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience:
Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. Sound clinical knowledge in Anaesthesia and acute management demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position. Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices that are commensurate with the Scope of Practice requirements of the position. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including: o High level interpersonal and communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
o Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department. Post-graduation higher degree holders are preferred. Working With Children Check Applicants must provide evidence of a Working with Children Check issued by the Office of Communities Commission for Children and Young People.
