The Queensland Police Service (QPS) Emergency Management & Coordination Command (EMCC) supports locally led and safe, resilient communities throughout Queensland.
The Command is focused on enhancing whole of government capability and delivering state level support to disaster operations based on the requirements of the Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements (QDMA).
The Core Capability Requirements for this role are:
Lead and manage the development and implementation of best practice strategic and operational plans, disaster and emergency management research projects, governance, risk management and technical controls.
Review and analyse state and national post-disaster and post-exercise lessons and recommendations to identify and implement improvement strategies including cross-agency coordination.
Oversee partnerships, sponsorships, and agreements; and identify and leverage disaster management grants and funding initiatives.
Provide high quality advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders relating to strategic planning initiatives that support decision making.
Prepare and review complex content, briefs, reports, submissions, and other correspondence, in accordance with requirements.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure strategic planning objectives and requirements are achieved.
Represent, liaise, and negotiate agreed outcomes on behalf of the State on high level committees and working groups at the national and state level.
Lead and manage the functions of the team through effective human resource, and financial management practices, including developing staff through performance, planning and review.
Role Requirements
Technical/ Operational/ Educational Experience:
Knowledge, experience, or qualifications in strategic and operational planning related area(s), and/or disaster management will be highly regarded.
Other:
Capacity to support operational duties during disaster events.
This may require work outside of normal hours (e.g.
night shift), including weekends, working extended hours and may include deployment to other parts of the State.
