The Truck Driver forms part of the Industries team at Southern Queensland Correctional Centre and is responsible for the delivery of industry products in a timely manner.
Southern Queensland Correctional Centre is located in Spring Creek, approximately 17kms from the township of Gatton in the Lockyer Valley. The centre provides high security secure placement accommodation for sentenced and remand women that are classified as high or low security. Women who enter the criminal justice system often come from lives characterised by sexual, emotional and physical abuse, domestic and family violence, substance addiction and mental health problems. QCS provides a gender-responsive, trauma-informed approach to managing women with the goal of offering an opportunity to truly rehabilitate and escape the cycle that led to crime. It is important to recognise that to change a woman, is to change a generation.
In this role you will: Perform pre-start checks in accordance with relevant QCS procedures; Secure loads and review load restraints in accordance with workplace health and safety regulations; Manage relevant paperwork including delivery dockets; Pickup and deliver required supplies as requested; Prepare and submit accurate logbooks, incident reports and records concerning notifiable incidents; Provide reports for any equipment damage, defects or loss and maintain accurate administration records; Manage the relevant areas inside and outside of the industries building; Removal of bins and other rubbish as required; Assist in the industries area at the direction of the Manager Industries; Ensure that all requests for deliveries and pickups are actioned in a timely manner; Assist with industries stocktakes; Ensure all centre documentation is appropriately archived; Ensure that you comply with all workplace health and safety regulations; Conduct regular truck audits to ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations. The essential requirements for this role are: Efficient time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks as demands arise and with competing priorities; Ability to use judgement, problem-solving skills with the ability to apply a range of problem-solving strategies and show initiative in identifying and solving problems both independently and as a team member; Well-developed communication skills as demonstrated through the ability to listen, understand and speak clearly to a wide range of audiences; Written skills with the ability to summarise information and data; Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant acts and regulations, policies and procedures; Sound information technology skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel and other office technology; Demonstrated attention to detail in the preparation and review of detailed documentation; Respect for sensitivity and confidentiality of issues and information handled; Planning and organising abilities to ensure tasks are completed within the required deadlines and in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures. It is a requirement of the role to have the following: Current HR licence with a minimum of 2 years experience; Australian Forklift licence with a minimum of 2 years experience in loading and unloading of trucks.
