A Sentence Planning Coordinator will contribute to the day-to-day operations of Sentence Management Services performing sentence management functions either in a correctional centre or within a hub environment at designated locations.
The role is responsible for: engaging with and assessing prisoners, report preparation and writing; and completing necessary administrative tasks associated with lawful detention, court attendance and parole processes.
The role will also provide supervision and service delivery coordination for small work units to ensure compliance with timeframes, legislation and departmental policies, procedures and practice directives.
Key Responsibilities Ensure that all sentencing authority and police documentation are actioned; Accurately calculate a prisoner's sentence to ensure lawful detention, release and supervision of prisoners; Perform administrative processes to ensure the lawful detention of prisoners including, recording sentence and remand details, pre-admission checklists, presentence custody certificates, prisoner bail, release and discharge documents, and auditing of electronic and manual diaries; Coordinate and deliver parole functions including to chair the prisoner interview, prepare high quality parole board reports and ensure adherence to relevant legislative and procedural timeframes; Coordinate and conduct prisoner panels including planning, classification and placement ensuring completed reports and information packs will support just and appropriate delegated decisions; Ensure all parole actions are accurately recorded on IOMS and/or prisoner's file within required timeframes; Ensure all sentencing and sentence management correspondence is actioned within timeframes including being delivered and clearly explained to prisoners; Prepare correspondence for relevant internal and external stakeholders in relation to prisoner sentence management; Provide individual and work unit supervision and coordination, supporting the performance management and development processes with allocated staff including compliance with workplace health and safety and code of conduct obligations.
