The Financial Services and Strategic Sourcing Command is responsible for prudent financial budgeting, management and reporting and procurement. The Command is undergoing transformative change as it reshapes its delivery approach and moves to a centralised model. The Command incorporates the Management Accounting Group, Financial Accounting and Operations Group, and Procurement and Contract Management Group.
In the role of Financial Accountant, you will provide financial support to the Financial Accounting and Operations Group within the Financial Services and Strategic Sourcing Command and across the QCS divisions. Your responsibilities will include overseeing transactional accounting processes and contributing to the preparation and delivery of the annual financial statements and whole of government reporting.
Key Responsibilities Assist in the delivery of financial accounting services particularly end of month accounting activities including financial reconciliations ensuring integrity and effective operation of the QCS general ledgers. Assist in the delivery of financial management transactional services through a range of accounting and IT systems (such as but not limited to SAP, ExpenseMe Pro Corporate Card, QTravel). Contribute to the preparation of the QCS annual financial statements. Contribute to asset accounting services including annual stocktake, impairment and useful life reviews, monthly data integrity and compliance checks, account reviews and other key asset accounting services for QCS. Support the development, monitoring and evaluation of financial management strategies and practices that ensure compliance with statutory requirements and government policy and enhance and promote sound and better practice financial management. Support any financial management projects including interpretation and analysing financial data and performance to ensure key outcomes are delivered on time. Assist in documenting policy, procedure and internal control frameworks in relation to the QCS Financial Management Practice Manual and related financial accounting services to ensure consistent, high-quality practices across QCS. Contribute to the achievement of continuous improvement by encouraging an environment where high quality work is achieved and is supported by the development and adherence to quality systems.
