Clinical/Medical Research (Healthcare & Medical) Full time The Organisation - Queensland Health – Clinical Planning and Service Strategy Queensland Health is responsible for the overall strategic leadership and direction of the public health system in Queensland. Public health services are provided through 16 Hospital and Health Services.
The Clinical Planning and Service Strategy (CPSS) division is committed to enhancing healthcare services for Queenslanders through strategic planning, innovation and leadership in key areas such as mental health, workforce, genomics and cancer care. CPSS collaborates with healthcare leaders, research institutions, and government agencies to implement impactful changes that reduce health disparities and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the healthcare system.
The Opportunity: Reporting to the Deputy Director-General of Clinical Planning and Service Strategy, you will lead statewide stewardship and provide strategic direction to improve integrated cancer care services. Your work will directly contribute to advancing cancer care through education, research, and partnerships with local, national, and international stakeholders.
In this role, you will champion innovative approaches to care, pushing for equity and better access for all Queenslanders affected by cancer. You will be responsible for driving strategic programs, guiding the implementation of evidence-based practices, and remaining at the forefront of the latest cancer research and therapies. Critically, you will provide strategic advice and support for the development of cancer-related programs, focusing on consumer consultation and aligning with key cancer strategies, while proactively responding to evolving health policies and trends.
The Candidate: You will have a background in senior healthcare leadership, with significant experience in cancer care and research. You will bring a proven track record of leading complex health services, demonstrating the ability to navigate strategic challenges while inspiring multidisciplinary teams. You are someone who values collaboration, can build relationships across sectors, and are passionate about driving innovation and improvement in cancer care. Your experience in research, policy development, and clinical care will allow you to anticipate trends and lead Queensland's cancer care system with vision and expertise.
A degree in a relevant tertiary qualification in a discipline such as Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health, or Business will be highly regarded. A minimum of five years of senior healthcare leadership experience, with a strong focus on cancer care and research, is required. Additionally, demonstrated expertise in research, including clinical trials, translational research, education, and cancer clinical care is essential. Previous experience in policy consultation, development, and implementation is also highly valued, as it aligns with the position's leadership and strategic responsibilities.
