Now 20 years old, we have grown to an £18m turnover business with over 180 operatives. As we seek to expand our commercial department, we are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor. About the role: Burflex Scaffolding is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team. This is a broad role taking ownership and management of multiple projects. The successful candidate will report directly to the Commercial Manager. Key Responsibilities: Assessing, reviewing, and mitigating commercial and contractual risks associated with the contract. Preparing applications for payment on a monthly basis in an accurate and timely manner. Monitoring performance of commercial activities using key metrics and preparing reports for the Head of Commercial. Ensuring prompt payments of outstanding sums. Undertaking regular site visits to resolve disputes while maintaining relationships with customers. Ensuring all commercial activities comply with procedures and external legislation governing business operations. Facilitating regular discussions with the Operations team to ensure full knowledge of the completion and financial status of the projects. Establishing and administering a regime of effective risk and opportunity management to reduce commercial exposure. Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of commercial management processes. Providing accurate and timely variation orders and ensuring these are given written instruction from the customer before proceeding. About you: Proven experience of working in the construction sector. The ability to communicate, influence, and challenge at all levels to deliver results. Holds a full UK driving licence. Experience of managing a portfolio of projects. Experience of working with a main contractor or large subcontractor. Experience of commercial processes within large-scale projects. Strong interpersonal skills; able to communicate at all levels and across the business. Proactive with a can-do attitude, able to handle tasks and drive results without close supervision. A team player who actively supports others but can also work independently. Identifies opportunities for improving contract processes and systems.
