With a strong emphasis on market responsiveness and operational efficiency, the organisation navigates the complexities of the evolving energy landscape.They are seeking a Quantitative Risk Manager with extensive experience in quantitative analysis and risk management within wholesale energy markets. This pivotal role will focus on developing risk frameworks and models that enhance investment decisions and optimise portfolio performance across a variety of trading strategies.Key Responsibilities Model Development: Design and implement sophisticated quantitative risk models for assessing and managing risks associated with wholesale energy trading and investments. Statistical Analysis: Conduct in-depth statistical analyses to evaluate market risks, including price volatility and liquidity, providing actionable insights for strategic decision-making. Collaborative Risk Management: Work closely with trading, finance, and operations teams to integrate risk management practices across the organisation, fostering a culture of risk awareness. Market Monitoring: Continuously monitor wholesale energy market trends and emerging risks to inform risk management strategies and maintain a competitive edge. Reporting: Prepare comprehensive risk reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key risks and recommended actions. External Relationships: Manage and maintain relationships with financial institutions and other key stakeholders to support effective risk management and reporting. Methodology Improvement: Continuously review and improve risk management methodologies, tools, and processes to adapt to changes in the market environment. Strategy Evaluation: Evaluate existing risk management strategies and recommend enhancements for improved effectiveness and alignment with organisational goals. Qualifications and Experience Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Industry Experience: 8+ years of experience in quantitative risk analysis specifically within the wholesale energy sector. Market Understanding: Strong understanding of energy markets, trading dynamics, and financial instruments, with a focus on risk exposure. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in statistical software and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) for data analysis and model development. Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills with a focus on problem-solving and strategic thinking in a fast-paced environment. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex risk concepts and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
