About the role:SydPath is a fully accredited NATA/RCPA/TGA registered laboratory offering a wide range of pathology services. We are located within the St Vincent's Hospital Campus, Darlinghurst, Sydney. We are a part of St Vincent's Health, Australia which is the nation's largest not-for-profit health and aged care provider.
This position offers an opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of pathology regulations and quality system management and gain solid auditing skills. The Quality Officer will oversee the quality management system within the laboratory, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal protocols. This role involves monitoring lab processes, conducting audits, and facilitating continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of services provided.
The successful applicant will be expected to work independently and collaboratively with the Quality Manager, Pathologists and Laboratory Managers.
The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

About you:We are seeking a science-based person with a good understanding of the pathology environment, a positive attitude to all aspects of quality systems, and a passion for driving quality improvements.

Selection Criteria:

Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia.
Have appropriate tertiary qualifications in a scientific or technical field relevant to the practice of pathology.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services.
Knowledge of ISO 15189 and NPAAC pathology regulations with understanding and a positive attitude towards the application of quality system principles in pathology.
Well-developed interpersonal, communication and judgement skills, ability to probe and analyse situations, understanding of the quality concepts.
Demonstrated ability to work responsibly and efficiently and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines. Display initiative, problem-solving, and analytical skills, including applying established principles in a pathology laboratory.
Demonstrated understanding of work health and safety and privacy requirements.
Knowledge of GMP requirements for Human Blood and Tissues and or the ability to readily assimilate knowledge and learn new skills is desirable.
