Quality Assurance & Control (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics)NOV Australia manufacture and supply pumps and mixers into a wide range of industries such as agricultural, general industrial, wastewater, mining, food and beverage, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical.The OpportunityNOV Australia have an opportunity for an experienced Quality Manager to lead the quality assurance effort for NOV Fluid Motion Solutions (Melbourne) to move from the current configuration to a world class manufacturing site able to meet demanding customer requirements and deliver operating profit to the company.Working with a team of highly skilled engineers and operations management, this position will guide our company to achieving "best practice" quality systems. You will be responsible for the management of the quality function across the site, ensuring the systems and procedures operated within the site adhere to the requirements of accreditation.With appropriate leadership this position will guide the Quality function to a long-term quality assurance vision, formalizing quality policies & procedures, and establish performance metrics for the site in-line with internal and external customer goals.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesDirect and coordinate the company's quality program, including quality management systems and procedures.Determine, negotiate and agree in-house quality procedures, standards and/or specifications.Perform internal quality audits to both regulatory and customer requirements.Contribute to the overall business strategy whilst maintaining a collaborative relationship with other departmental managers, Sales, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Finance.Promote a positive and accountable culture in which employees are encouraged to engage and take lead in a continuous improvement environment.Ensure Quality Team reduce nonvalue added activity in all processes by using lean / kaizen tools and techniques.Compile quality control reports, create statistical process control metrics, manage non-conformity material discrepancy reports and recommend continuous improvement activities.Assess customer requirements and ensure these are met.Act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance/quality.Prepare monthly summaries of quality issues for presentation to the senior management team.Monitor the ongoing performance and outputs of the quality process.Work with Operations to apply pertinent Six Sigma Green/Black Belt attributes and other quality procedures appropriate to the business objectives.Support Purchasing with annual business reviews of key suppliers.Work with Engineering on new component introduction, alternative raw materials, tooling requirements, test plans, and product qualification requirements.Communicate and share the company quality philosophy to key personnel in the company.Keep senior management abreast of significant developments identified during quality control activities.Skills & Experience RequiredStrategic: Anticipates the impact of change and rises to the challenge, with the ability to accept risk and uncertainty.Operating: Able to define, work within and improve business processes based on immediate and future business needs.Courage: Can identify the skills required by the business and hire effectively.Energy and Drive: Will dependably achieve what he or she sets out to do and expects others to do likewise.Personal and Interpersonal: Able to motivate a wide range of individuals, including direct reports, team members, and project members.QualificationsSix Sigma black belt (Desirable).ExperienceExperience leading a quality function/ team (Essential).Experience within a quality engineering, or quality control position (Desirable).Skills, training or special knowledgeUnderstanding in Geometric Design & Tolerancing (GD&T) (Essential).Use of Quality tools, such as: FMEA (design & Process), Process mapping (SIPOC) (Essential).Problem solving; including root cause analysis, corrective action.
