DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct and coordinate the company's quality program, including quality management systems and procedures. Determine, negotiate and agree in-house quality procedures, standards and/or specifications. Perform internal quality audits to both regulatory and customer requirements. Contribute to the overall business strategy whilst maintaining a collaborative relationship with other departmental managers; Sales, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Finance. Promote a positive and accountable culture in which employees are encouraged to engage and take lead in a continuous improvement environment. Ensure Quality Team reduce non value added activity in all processes by using lean / kaizen tools and techniques. Compile quality control reports, create statistical process control metrics, manage non-conformity material discrepancy reports and recommend continuous improvement activities. Assess customer requirements and ensure these are met. Act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance/quality. Prepare monthly summaries of quality issues for presentation to the senior management team. Monitor the ongoing performance and outputs of the quality process. Work with Operations to apply pertinent Six Sigma Green/Black Belt attributes and other quality procedures appropriate to the business objectives. Support Purchasing with annual business reviews of key suppliers. Work with Engineering on new component introduction, alternative raw materials, tooling requirements, test plans, and product qualification requirements. Communicate and share the company quality philosophy to key personnel in the company. Keep senior management abreast of significant developments identified during quality control activities. Firm and diplomatic when negotiating (Negotiating). Qualifications: Essential: Six Sigma green belt. Desirable: Six Sigma black belt. ISO9001 lead auditor qualification. Experience: Essential: Experience leading a quality function/team. Desirable: Experience within a quality engineering or quality control position. Zero Defects philosophy. QMS Implementation, development & operation. Skills, Training or Special Knowledge: Essential: Understanding in Geometric Design & Tolerancing (GD&T). Use of Quality tools, such as FMEA (design & Process), Process mapping (SIPOC). Problem solving; including root cause analysis, corrective action. Desirable: Use of Minitab statistical software. Statistical Process Control (SPC). APQP/PPAP (automotive/Aerospace or other industry). 8D problem solving. Quality Assurance: Carry out all duties in accordance with the Quality Assurance procedures and department/area work instructions.
Contribute to general improvements in the quality and key activities of the department/area.
Training: Participate in training where required.
