At present the operations team consists of a relatively lean team across Food Technology, Quality, Production, Stores and Warehousing.
These teams are further supported by Executive Leadership down to Finance, Marketing, Sales and more.
Operations are across one shift on a 5-day work week of roughly 7am – 3pm.
The Role The Quality Lead will report into the GM of Operations and be located at the Laverton site.
It is the responsibility of the Quality Lead to work a stand-alone role, whilst working collaboratively with all functions in the plant.
The Quality Lead will be required to lead the site-based Quality function by bringing technical process and analytical expertise to improve and maintain a shared Quality vision that is recognised by all staff, customers and competitors within the industry.
This vision and strategy will align with a stronger customer focus, creating mutual value and excellence in operational processes.
They will work with and develop manufacturing teams in order to initiate activities to develop and improve manufacturing and product quality standards.
As the leader of the Quality function, they will focus on Continuous Improvement and also be required to play a hands-on role in day-to-day quality assurance operations.
The Quality Lead will also lead the business in obtaining industry and customer led certification and accreditation as required, including HACCP and SQF.
The Quality Lead will also play a pivotal role in coordinating activities to ensure all compliance and frameworks are met to maintain this certification ongoing.
The Quality Coordinator will build upon, improve and maintain the centralised product quality system and framework in alignment with good industry practices and procedures.
This robust system will include, but not be limited to, creating standard operating procedures (SOP's), customer and regulatory audit management, product and material quality, food safety, specifications, Occupational Health & Safety, sanitation, pest control, and compliance and implementation of internal and external quality standards.
With the assistance of the Master Distiller and/or Production Leader, the Quality Lead will lead major NCR mitigation through identifying root causes of poor quality and ensure all customers receive products on time, within specification and fault free.
Skills & Experience Tertiary qualified in Food Science, Manufacturing or similar, and have direct experience working within a small to medium scale food, beverage/liquid manufacturing plant.
Experience working in a start-up environment with an understanding that the role will wear several hats at times is essential.
Demonstrate a successful track record working in a hands-on Quality position and be recognised for superior skills and communication.
Have strengths in change management and creating new processes including SOP's for all quality and manufacturing processes (including changeovers).
Proven track record building and maintaining strong cross-functional partnerships at site level and with external stakeholders in order to promote true collaboration.
Personally have a strong voice and the ability to direct and initiate quality assurance roadmap, as well as stand ground when Quality Assurance processes and standards are being challenged.
Display a can-do attitude, and have a genuine passion, energy, and enthusiasm.
