About the Opportunity Reporting to the Program Quality Manager – Multi Class Sustainment (MCS), the Quality Control Manager is accountable to provide a localised Quality function embedded in the MCS programs to enable ASC to provide defect-free products and services to the customer and assuring the company's compliance and ongoing certification pertaining to Quality legislation, including ISO9001 and ISO17025 through a comprehensive Quality Management System and suite of processes.
You will contribute to providing world-class quality services and support to the MCS programs, ASC and the broader Submarine Enterprise. The position will manage all elements of Quality Control through the MCS programs and related external stakeholders in support of MCS programs and business legislation and licensing. You will also contribute through aligning activities with ASC's Strategy and assisting ASC to meet any relevant contractual deliverables. Working with the Program Quality Manager – MCS and the wider leadership team, the position is required to maintain a strategic perspective of the entire business and will take in to account a wide range of longer-term issues, opportunities and risks to ensure ongoing business success and drive consistency and alignment across the MCS programs.
Responsibilities Develop and execute a Quality strategy/plan for MCS, ensuring its alignment to overall business strategy and consistent across both QC streamsDeliver safe, accurate and efficient Quality products and services to ASC MCS and the wider Submarine EnterpriseComply with all regulatory requirements in support of NATA/ ARPANSA licencing, WHS and ASC's Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity policyReport on MCS Quality function performance and compliance in accordance with business and program requirementsProvide management and leadership to your department by ensuring that high quality, safe and efficient systems of work are in place to support a safely on time
The role has a strategic horizon of 1-3 years with a requirement to establish long-term vision in a sometimes-uncertain environmentThe Quality Control Manager will lead approximately 3 direct reports across areas including Production Quality Control, Quality Planning and Supplier Quality ControlIdentify potential risks to MCS Services and develop mitigation strategies for these, including developing programs and initiatives which address concerns proactivelyAbout you Tertiary qualifications in an engineering and/or business disciplineMinimum 10 years' experience in operational leadership roles within Defence and/or heavy industryProven experience and competency with quality/certification systems in a dockyard or heavy engineering environmentDemonstrated experience and competency in the management and leadership of a cross-functional team across multiple projects and locationsHave high level conceptual, analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret (both ASC and customer) social, political and operating environmentsProblem solving at the highest level of complexity and importance that materially affect the value, viability and profitability of ASCKnowledge of submarine systems, equipment and their interrelationships - DesirableExperience with CCSM maintenance requirements and quality regulations including ISO17025Commercial awareness and financial literacyProven ability to influence and lead change and business improvementAbility to set priorities and achieve deadlines within a fast-paced environmentEligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
