Job DescriptionReporting directly to the QA Manager, we are currently seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to manage our Raw Materials and incoming goods laboratory.
The purpose of this role is to manage and support the laboratory to meet the production schedule and customer expectations. The role will also require timely decision making and root cause analysis to be able to provide recommendations on suitable solutions.
Role:Direct supervision of staff including conducting performance reviews.Assess and implement new raw material suppliers for alternative supply options.Manage the OOS system effectively.Management of the QC laboratory and subsequent work. Including working closely with the Analytical Support Manager to prioritise work to meet tight production deadlines.Responsible for the timely release and/or rejection of Starting Materials for Cosmetic, TGA and APVMA products.Review the QC testing regime to identify and initiate changes to reduce cost, improve turnaround time or improve capability through the purchase of new equipment, change in process, introduction of new testing methods or changes in team structure.Support the transition of testing undertaken by external companies in-house.Lead, support and manage direct reports to ensure they have adequate resources, guidance and direction to test, assess and pass materials and bulk finished product to meet production schedule. Work to resolve issues with others where required.Investigate out of specification materials or product and provide recommendations to relevant stakeholders on possible solutions to address these issues to ensure delivery dates are maintained and client specifications are realised.Assist in the review and approval of method validation and transfer protocols.About you:
Minimum 5 years' experience in QC Management and a thorough understanding of raw materials and testing methods.Extensive knowledge of testing systems as they apply to cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.Ability to read, interpret and apply pharmacopoeia and other reference test methods.Proven track record of managing small teams effectively.Ability to effectively analyse and interpret information and determine appropriate solutions. Adaptability to shift priority and focus as business needs and customer requirements shift to ensure the business continues to meet regulatory obligations and customer specifications.Demonstrate resilience and confidence in being able to present alternative views in a non-confronting and constructive manner.Proactive interpersonal and negotiation skills to be able to influence a broad range of people to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and GMP standards.Sound planning and organizational skills with strict attention to detail.In-depth knowledge of laboratory systems (e.g. cGLP, GMP) and TGA/APVMA regulations.Tertiary qualifications in chemistry or equivalent.Experience within the cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical industry.Experience working within a contract manufacturing environment.Desired Skills and ExperienceThis is a varied and interesting role, with challenging work, with a focus on commercial decision-making and adding value to the business.
