Quality Co-ordinator Toxicology, Queensland Health The purpose of this role is to provide quality, validation and method development support to the Forensic Toxicology laboratory, FPaCS, as part of the organisation's commitment to continuous improvement and focus on client services through structured quality management.
Contribute to training improvement and training activities within the laboratory to comply with training requirements and meet laboratory needs.
Represent Forensic Toxicology at CPHS Quality Community of Practice meetings, implementing initiatives raised and reporting on outcomes.
Key competencies (role specific criteria) Broad knowledge and understanding of ISO, legislation, regulations and standards that apply to a multidisciplinary laboratory organisation. Demonstrated technical knowledge of and active participation in quality procedures and processes for maintenance of NATA/ISO17025 accreditation, and the ability to provide advice and assistance in relation to organisational compliance. Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory validation processes and guidelines, and demonstrated statistics knowledge, and the ability to acquire knowledge in method validation statistics. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in Forensic Toxicology or other field of chemical analysis. Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills to provide advice to colleagues and management and show an understanding of client and team needs. Demonstrated high-level written communication skills to document and review operational procedures and analytical methodology. Qualifications, registrations and other requirements Mandatory possession of a tertiary qualification in science, preferably with a chemistry major. Possession of good statistical knowledge, particularly in respect to validation and measurement uncertainty would be highly regarded. While not mandatory, a qualification in quality management or internal auditing would be well regarded. Experience in the use of a quality information system / database would also be highly regarded. The successful applicant will be expected to work with biological specimens such as, but not limited to blood, urine and oral fluid.
