Our client is a leading construction company specializing in bulk earthworks and civil works projects across Queensland. We are currently seeking a dedicated Quality/Environmental Engineer to join our team and contribute to our mission of excellence. We are looking for a skilled and adaptable Quality/Environmental Engineer to ensure that our projects meet the highest standards of quality, environmental sustainability, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience working on greenfield sites, particularly with challenges such as Acid Sulphate Soil and PFAS, and will be capable of delivering Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) effectively. While a civil engineering background is preferred, we welcome candidates from diverse engineering backgrounds who possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. What will you be doing? Develop and implement quality and environmental management systems for construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Conduct risk assessments and environmental impact assessments for greenfield sites, with a focus on identifying and mitigating potential hazards such as Acid Sulphate Soil and PFAS contamination. Collaborate with project teams to develop Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure that all project activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures and specifications. Monitor and evaluate project performance against quality, environmental, and safety metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed to address deviations from established standards. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality and environmental requirements, and provide guidance to project teams on corrective measures. Coordinate with regulatory agencies, environmental consultants, and other stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and approvals for construction activities. Provide training and support to project personnel on quality and environmental management practices, and promote a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability. Stay current on emerging trends and technologies in quality and environmental engineering, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance project performance and efficiency. What do you need? Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality and/or environmental engineering, preferably in the construction industry. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental management, including Acid Sulphate Soil and PFAS contamination. Experience developing and implementing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) for construction projects. Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and address potential issues proactively. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and influence decision-making processes. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility and adaptability to changing project requirements and priorities.
