The Quality and Safety Specialist supports the Quality and Safety Manager by carrying out functions related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's quality and safety management systems in compliance with aviation regulations, including Parts 145, 42, 119, 135, and 138.
This role ensures operational excellence through auditing, change management, risk assessments, and the promotion of a strong safety culture across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES: Quality Management: Support the Quality and Safety Manager in overseeing the company's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.Conduct internal and external audits in accordance with Part 145, 42, and other applicable regulations.Identify and address non-conformances and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.Assist in developing and updating quality policies, procedures, and manuals.Stay current with changes to aviation regulations and support the Quality and Safety Manager in ensuring company compliance with Parts 145, 42, 119, 135, and 138.Liaise with regulatory authorities, including preparation for audits and inspections.Support certification and approval processes, including initial and ongoing compliance requirements.Safety Management: Assist the Quality and Safety Manager in managing the Safety Management System (SMS) in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.Conduct safety investigations and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement mitigation strategies.Facilitate safety reporting and ensure timely resolution of safety issues.Promote a positive safety culture across the organization through training, communication, and leadership engagement.Collaborate with the Quality and Safety Manager to drive initiatives that improve operational processes and reduce risks.Analyze quality and safety data to identify trends and recommend improvements.Work with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.Training and Development: Provide training to staff on quality and safety management systems, regulatory compliance, and best practices.Support professional development initiatives to maintain a highly skilled workforce.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in aviation, engineering, safety, experienced pilot or a related field (or equivalent experience).Demonstrated experience with aviation regulatory frameworks, particularly Parts 145, 42, 119, 135, and 138.Proven track record in quality management, safety management, and regulatory compliance.Certification in quality auditing (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor).Aviation Safety Investigators Course.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Proficiency in relevant software tools and systems.Key Competencies: Thorough understanding of aviation safety principles and quality assurance practices.Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Leadership capabilities and the ability to foster a culture of safety and excellence.Working Conditions: Based at Sydney facilities in Bankstown & Richmond; occasional travel may be required.Hybrid and Flexible work hours can be discussed to support the organisationWe would like to thank all applicants in advance for their interest; however, we can only consider applicants that are an Australian resident and are legally eligible to work in Australia.
