Who are we?
Queensland Respiratory Services offer a full range of lung function and allergy testing, at 15 locations across Queensland, backed by the largest private respiratory physician group in the state.
This position involves working fulltime, independently instructing patients to perform breathing tests at our Bundaberg site, at the Mater Hospital.
You will be required to perform pulmonary function testing on patients in a respiratory laboratory and write reports according to protocols outlined by ATS, ERS and TSANZ.
Tests include: Spirometry and flow-volume loops Gas Transfer/Diffusion testing (DLCO) Body plethysmography Respiratory muscle strength testing 6-minute walk testing (with & without O2) Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FeNO) Skin prick test Equipment/Software: Vyntus Body - SentrySuite HealthTrack practice software Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe PDF Role Responsibilities: Produce accurate and prompt reports on respiratory function tests and maintain a professional standard of record-keeping for such tests. Operate and maintain equipment within the laboratory according to the laboratory and manufacturer's established procedures. This includes: Calibration Quality control Preventative maintenance Basic troubleshooting procedures Infection control / cleaning Follow general laboratory procedures regarding professional conduct, dress code, punctuality and documentation. Provide assistance in new documentation for the recording of results. Comply with safety and infection control policies of the laboratory. Participate in continuing education, through reading and attending meetings and courses. Technical and troubleshooting when required. Attend relevant meetings (monthly). Assist in managing the laboratory by making appointments for tests and answering phones when required. Ordering of stock and consumables to maintain clinic functions. General administrative duties and procedures including: patient billing using EFTPOS/Cash and processing Medicare rebates. Maintain a record of equipment, consumables, distribution of equipment, statistics, and consumables to other laboratories. Contribute to the activities of professional associations. Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure the quality of patient care (supported by senior staff). Ensure the recording of expenditure and the appropriate receipts are submitted to managers for reimbursement. Ensure accurate recording of kilometers on the company car or personal car used on company business. Work with other staff members to promote respect and a positive workplace. Role Requirements: The successful applicant must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in clinical measurements, applied science, biomedical science, exercise science, human movements, or of a similar nature. Available during business hours (Monday to Friday). Experience in spirometry testing is highly sought but not essential as full training can be provided. Why Work for Us?
