Within the Department of Education, DEi, trading as Education Queensland International, provides education programs, services and experiences for students and teachers in Queensland and overseas.
The International Student Programs team supports schools and overseas students through a variety of programs, policy and procedures, as well as professional development.
Responsibilities include: Provide advice to ISP principals and school staff, ensuring alignment with the Education Services for Overseas Students legislative framework and departmental policies and procedures. Offer expert support to the Director, International Student Programs and ISP teams on strategic policy issues and projects. Develop and implement initiatives to strengthen student engagement and wellbeing. Oversee the 1800 QSTUDY service, ensuring consistent 24/7 support for students and stakeholders, including urgent after-hours assistance and incident management. Deliver quality outcomes in the pursuit of enhancing the student experience and student safety, for example Water Skills events and Holiday Adventure Programs. Form meaningful and purposeful relationships with school staff and provide program improvement recommendations to principals of Queensland state schools. Operationalise the policy and procedure framework of International Student Programs, including accreditation, compliance, training, monitoring and governance activities. Lead activities required to ensure successful outcomes and compliance with all legislative requirements set by the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) and to support the Education General Provisions Act (2006).
