The Emergency Department Flow Commander role is a temporary role, a Clinical Nurse position that works alongside the Emergency Department Shift Coordinator and in collaboration with the Patient Access and Coordination Hub.
The Emergency Department sees on average 130 patients per a 24-hour period, and sees a vast range of clinical presentations, and works with patients from culturally diverse backgrounds. As a result of being a referral hospital for Central Queensland, the Emergency Department sees a large amount of critically unwell and trauma cases.

The Emergency Department is a dynamic workplace which treats both Adult and Paediatric populations. It is made up of 17 acute patient treatment areas, 3 resuscitation bays, triage, and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) assessment areas, and a Fast-Track area which treats less acute presentations. The Emergency Department also manages a 12-bed Short Stay unit.
About the role: The Emergency Department Flow Commander role is a temporary role, a Clinical Nurse position that works alongside the Emergency Department Shift Coordinator and in collaboration with the Patient Access and Coordination Hub, key internal and external partners to facilitate the flow of patients in and out of the Emergency Department.
Maintaining a high level of interpersonal skills, working effectively with individuals, groups and as a member of a patient flow team. Critical thinking and problem solving in a fast-paced environment utilising effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills with all key stakeholders. Provide advanced emergency nursing knowledge relevant to the patient population to ensure safe and optimal flow through the emergency department. Provide leadership to coordinate flow of patients at an advanced level in accordance with best practice guidelines and to prescribed professional and ethical standards of practice. About you: Registration as a Registered Nurse, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practising certificate is mandatory for this role. Although not mandatory, experience in emergency department nursing is preferred. What we offer: Total remuneration value of up to $10,992 p.m. is comprised of:
