QinetiQ are now accepting applications for this key strategic role within our Growth team for our Australian Sector. Reporting to the Capability Assurance Campaign Director, the Senior Capture Manager – AUKUS Pillar 1 will be responsible for developing new business opportunities in association with the transition to a sovereign nuclear powered submarine capability. Ideally located in Canberra, Melbourne or Adelaide but other locations will be considered for the right candidate.
As Senior Capture Manager you will be accountable to:
Exercise a high degree of autonomy and independence, lead cross-functional teams, including technical teams from other Business Units in Australia and the UK. Take independent charge of developing and executing a comprehensive maritime strategy aligned with Group and Sector strategies. Exhibit a deep understanding of efforts across the AUKUS Pillar 1 domain to expand our presence and capture market share within AUKUS pillar 1 segment, specifically targeting Submarine Capability Assurance requirements. Exercise excellent management skills, leadership and soft-power attributes to identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities aligning with company objectives, emphasising a robust pipeline of maritime related projects. Lead the preparation and submission of unsolicited proposals, bids, tenders, and other approaches to the market, from initiation to closure as outlined in the Shipley process. Leverage an understanding of Defence initiatives across all five domains to support the expansion of our presence and capture market share of ADF capability assurance requirements. Foster and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Australian Defence Organisation, other mechanisms of Government, and other Maritime entities. Independently and actively engaging in networking and collaboration to position the company as the trusted partner for capability assurance services. Independently and proactively manage and nurture existing client relationships, focussing on client satisfaction, retention, and protection of our current business footprint. Simultaneously explore avenues for growth within these accounts. Continuously monitor industry trends, market dynamics, competitor activities, and Government policies affecting the Maritime and Defence sectors. Employ operational, technical, and sea-going expertise and experience within the Naval domain, commensurate with a former senior RAN officer, to shape the future of our services. To be successful in the role of Senior Capture Manager you will need to bring with you:
Previous military experience (Former Submarine Warfare Officer or Submariner Weapons Electrical Engineering Officer will be considered favourably). A degree in engineering and/or business, or demonstrated excellent management skills, leadership, and soft-power attributes commensurate with senior management experience in a similar role. Demonstrated commercial awareness and business acumen as either the customer or capability deliverer. Strong and extensive network within the Royal Australian Navy at senior levels, the wider ADF, and Defence Industry. Excellent knowledge of the Defence Capability Lifecycle and accompanying frameworks. Experience within the Defence budgeting and capability development lifecycle. Strong client and staff engagement, relationship, and communication skills. Ability to lead matrixed, cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams up to 15 individuals for extensive periods under high pressure conditions to meet well defined deadlines (Defence command/sub-unit command) will be considered favourably. Demonstrated ability to think strategically with a focus on short term delivery and long term growth of Maritime and wider Defence opportunities. A high level of independence and discretion to achieve excellent results as directed by the Growth Campaign Director and the Chief Growth Officer, aligned to Group and Sector strategies. The ability to think across all levels of the business development process from tactical to strategic. Knowledge of the ASDEFCON suite of contracting documents.
