The QHSE Systems Manager – Pearling role is a full-time position located at our Darwin CBD office, reporting directly to the General Manager – Pearling Production and supported by the Manager WHS - PPG.
We seek a QHSE Systems Manager - Pearling who will take responsibility for building, enhancing, and maintaining our strong Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) culture and ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
The role's responsibilities will include: Managing and administering QHSE practices, policies, and procedures while ensuring effective education and awareness across the pearling business.Conducting internal audits and remote site inspections to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.Ensuring the Pearling Production business unit's ISM System maintains external accreditation and compliance.Facilitating external audits and regulator requests as required.Performing gap analyses of existing policies, procedures, and training, and developing in-house training programs as needed.Managing document control, reporting, investigations, and supporting Pearling Production managers to ensure staff compliance with QHSE systems.Handling Incident Reports (IRs), including receiving, responding, and closing them off in consultation with the General Manager – Pearling Production, WHS Manager - PPG, and other managers.Managing Corrective Action Reports (CARs) across all Pearling Production locations and coordinating with Vessel Masters and Managers.Managing food safety, export certification, and MSC certification for pearl meat production.Assisting pearling management/supervisors with assessing and mitigating potential risks to ensure adequate control measures to minimize those risks are implemented.Collaborating with and managing a range of stakeholders, while providing QHSE advice and reporting to management through clear written, verbal, and presentation modes.To be successful in this role, you will need: A Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or tertiary qualification in a relevant field.A minimum of 3 years' experience in a QHSE or WHS Coordinator/leadership role.An understanding of or exposure to ISO 9001, 45001, 14001, 22001, ISM Code.Strong leadership skills with the ability to work in a team environment or autonomously.An understanding or familiarization of QHSE Management Systems, Legislation, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Standards, Policies, and Guidelines.Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to follow through on diverse tasks to their completion, and able to meet strict deadlines.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and the ability to manage, learn, and implement various QHSE data and management systems.The availability to travel to remote locations, sometimes on short notice.To be an Australian citizen or permanent resident with full work rights to work in Australia.As well as the above, a strong knowledge of or experience in one or more of the following fields: Maritime, Aquaculture, Remote Work Sites, Diving, Engineering, Food Safety would be considered advantageous.
