The Opportunity: Bhagwan Marine is looking for an experienced QHSE Coordinator to join our team, located in Dampier.
This is not a FIFO position.
Reporting to the Operations Manager and GM - QHSE, this critical role will be responsible to manage and maintain a safe working environment by applying Company defined safe work practices in accordance with Bhagwan Marine policies, processes and procedures using ISO45001 OHS Management System standards and ISO14001 Environmental Management System standards.
Your duties will include, but not limited to: Provide HSE leadership and advice to employees in achieving HSE objectives and targets.
Support and provide advice to management on HSE matters.
Conduct regular HSE audits to verify conformance with Company policies, processes and procedures as defined within the Company IMS.
Conduct regular site and vessel inspections to identify any hazards and present them to the respective Supervisor and/or Master to take the appropriate actions.
Always promote a positive "safety culture" across all aspects of the business.
Notify management of significant hazards identified that may negatively impact the business.
Identify and manage significant risks or situations that may compromise the health and safety of employees including third party personnel and the community.
Assist in the development and implementation of new HSE initiatives and programs as part of the Company "continuous improvement" program.
Manage, maintain, and update the Company risk register to include new risks.
Implement safe work practices and provide effective 'Risk Management Tools' both in the office environment and onboard all Company operated vessels.
Liaise with clients on the delivery of all HSE expectations.
Establish reporting protocols that comply with regulatory authorities and client expectations.
Oversee hazard management throughout the Company operations and ensure appropriate and effective actions are taken within prescribed / acceptable timeframes.
Oversee incident management throughout the Company operations and ensure appropriate investigation and appropriate actions have been taken within prescribed / acceptable timeframes to minimise and prevent further similar events.
Conduct thorough assessment of incident / accident investigations as appropriate, identifying comprehensive root cause analysis and key lessons learnt.
Ensure timely response and effective close-out of all reported injuries and incidents and follow-up on any outstanding action items.
Participate in the contract review process, identifying HSE risks as appropriate.
Develop contract specific HSE related project plans as required.
Conduct pre-mobilisation HSE inspections to ensure compliance with all HSE imperatives.
Develop and ensure delivery of all mandatory HSE training for all employees.
Assist in coordination of injury management and rehabilitation programs to ensure timely return to work.
Development and distribution of all Company HSE bulletins to communicate lessons learnt.
Compilation and distribution of industry alerts and safety bulletins to generate safety awareness across all aspects of the business.
Management and maintenance of all identified HSE records into INX In Control event management database.
Assist with the compilation and analysis of the Company "HSE Performance Statistics" and presentation and dissemination to management team then general distribution to all employees, external agencies, and clients (as appropriate).
Facilitate HSE meetings and record outcomes.
Facilitate risk management group sessions and develop specific hazard register(s).
Provide coverage of relevant positions in the business unit as required, such as in the event of annual leave or other absences.
Qualifications and Experience: Tertiary qualifications in QHSE (such as one or more of those listed below) or related fields is essential: Cert IV in Work Health & Safety or higher (essential).
Cert IV in Training & Assessment or higher (desirable).
OHS Lead Auditor or ISM Code Lead Auditor Certificate (desirable).
Incident Investigation and Analysis training (ICAM or Tap Root) (desirable).
Environmental Management Lead Auditor Certificate (desirable).
Minimum 5 years operational experience with a broad exposure and understanding of Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Management systems and standards that are specific to the marine industry.
