The Queensland Council of Unions is the peak union body in Queensland. It is comprised of 26 affiliated unions, representing around 400,000 union members.
Our Mission Statement is "Leading Unions to achieve industrial, political and social justice for Queensland Workers".
The QCU has an Executive of 46 Officers, 13 of whom form the Management Committee.
Job Purpose & Reporting
The purpose of this role is to provide support to the QCU Executive Officer in arranging and coordinating events and related administration work.
The position will report directly to the QCU Executive Officer and ultimately to the General Secretary.
Key Responsibilities
Working with the QCU Executive Officer, the position is expected to undertake the following duties –
Helping to select and book venues and sitesAdminister event registrationsGeneral administration workAssisting with Committee secretariat work (as required)Relevant Qualifications
A relevant vocational qualification in administration and/or events support is desirable.
Required Knowledge and Experience Previous experience in general administration and/or events support skills.Proficiency in use of Microsoft word, excel, Powerpoint and related software.Skills and Abilities Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to manage varying work tasks.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work as a collaborative team member.Personal Attributes Ability to work well with others and develop effective work relationships.Commitment to the values and principles of trade unionism and ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders within the trade union movement.Commitment to the respect and values of cultural and social diversity.Other
This full time position is based in Brisbane.
Key Selection Criteria Experience in selecting and booking venues and sitesExperience in administering event registrations.Experience in providing administration support within an organisation.Ability to apply the values and principles of unionism, including respect, safety, diversity and inclusion.Experience in working with other team members.Competency in the use of Microsoft software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint or related software.
