The opportunity
ASIO is seeking to fill Python & SQL Developer positions in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth locations.

A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies which have the same or similar requirements to this position.
This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months.

Role responsibilities
As a Python & SQL Developer, you will:
Play a key role in developing capability using Python and SQL for the purpose of integrating a variety of different data types into Enterprise Data Platforms for both analytics and applications in support of ASIO's mission.
Plan and develop capability using industry, enterprise and security standards.
Work in a diverse team environment, sharing outcomes and experience with others to support development and growth.
Support the Enterprise by providing data that is fit-for-purpose, complete, accurate, and consistent for end users.
Employ contemporary and innovative tools and techniques to automate the ingestion of data into Enterprise Data Platforms.
Ensure that all development is in line with standard engineering and technical approaches employed by the team, and that risks associated with deployment are adequately understood and documented.
What you will bring
For AE4-AE5 roles, we invite applications from people with the following attributes:
Technology skills.
Previous experience with coding.
An aptitude and desire to learn.
For AEE1 candidates, the following skills and experiences are required:
The ability to design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor complex programs/scripts in Python.
The ability to build tooling and techniques which are well tested, documented and provide consistency in development approaches.
The ability to resolve operational problems with programming solutions.
The ability to contribute to the selection of the development methods, tools and techniques.
Other Desirable Skills and Experience
Proficiency in platform engineering, including containerisation.
Skills in designing and building APIs to facilitate seamless integration.
A general understanding of potential data issues such as missing values, and duplicate data.
A demonstrated ability to develop technical documentation and track work using collaboration tools.
Aligned SFIA skills, such as:Programming (PROG).
Database Design (DESN).
Minimum 3 years of technology capability development experience is desirable but not essential for consideration at the higher levels (AE6 and AEE1).
Tertiary qualification in a technology field is desirable but not essential.
