Purchasing Manager

Action Sealtite is a market leading wholesale distributor of hoses and couplings, supplying a variety of high-quality products to the chemical, pharmaceutical, nuclear and food and beverage industries worldwide.
We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Purchasing Manager to manage the logistical supplies of all purchases and place shortfall orders where required. The Purchasing Manager will play an essential role in improving gross margin via effective purchasing strategies, including proactively monitoring inventory to meet demands, optimising value for money on all purchases, and ensuring all stock meets company standards.
We are looking for a commercially aware, proactive self-starter who has the ability to use their exceptional communication skills to foster strong supplier relationships.
Duties & Responsibilities

Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries
Work closely with the customer service team to ensure acceptable customer service levels
Manage all purchase returns
Confirm and place all purchase orders for stock and non-stock items
Manage the product purchasing budget in line with policy and approval authority limits
Compile and maintain purchase records, supplier databases and procurement contracts
Develop a supplier assessment system

Experience & Skills

Financial acumen and numerate with excellent Microsoft Excel skills
High-level of attention to detail
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Contract negotiation skills
Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time in a fast-paced environment
Experience of distribution, manufacturing or engineering industries
Experience of working with international suppliers specifically in US, Europe & China, working in a multi-currency environment
Experience of working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (Epicor Prophet 21 specifically) an advantage
Procurement/Supply Chain qualifications/certification (i.e. CIPS) an advantage

Remuneration: up to £40,740 FTE (pro rata for part time hours)
Annual bonus scheme
Working pattern: 25 per week (exact pattern to be agreed with successful candidate)
